(1)WHAT CHANGES WERE BROUGHT IN THE SECOND GENERATION OF COMPUTERS AS COMPARED TO THE PROVIOUS GENERATION?
Vacuum tubes were replaced by transistors and diodes. The replacement helped in reducing the size of the computers as well.
(2) Write short notes on any two early calculating devices.
Abacus is the first known calculating deivce.
Napier s Bones is a system of calculation using strips of ivory bones known as Napier Bones.

Abacus is the first known calculating deivce.It was use to perform simple arithmetic operations such
as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.It was invented around 5000 years ago.
(4)Differentiate between Difference Engine and Analytical Engine.
Difference Engine was invented in 1822. Difference Engine had number of columns numbered from 1 to n
and was capable of storing one decimal number in each column.
Analytical Engine is a better version of Difference Engine in 1837. The Calculating device had same basic
elements as in modern computer. These elements were input, output and memory device.
(5) Differentiate between fourth and fifth generation computers
Fourth Generation:*The period of 4th generation of computer 1971 - 1980.
*Use microprocessor Technology.
Fifth Generation:*The period of 5th generation of computer Since 1985 to now.
*Use ULSI,AI Technology.
